Tan Chong Motor Group, the authorised distributor of Nissan
and Renault vehicles in Malaysia, engaged Cyber Village to
design, develop and implement an enterprise-wide portal-based
Vehicles Sales, Service and Order Management system (VSOS)
for TCM' s automotive operations and services. The new system
is to streamline the business processes of TCM and its group
of companies, as well as to enhance their operational efficiencies
to meet the various challenges of rapid business growth and
the liberalisation of the motor industry in Malaysia and the
region. As the business processes and system requirements
are fairly unique to both TCM and the automotive industry,
there was no readily available software product which could
meet the immediate requirements of TCM. Hence, this project
is an example of a bespoke project whereby the software application
will be built from ground-up, instead of customising and implementing
a readily available product.
VSOS will be built utilising IBM WebSphere® technology,
based on Java J2EE platform. The objective of this project
was to transform its vehicle sales and service operations,
and to deliver a one-stop service centre for TCM customers,
employees and business partners. The portal provides for a
single web-based technology platform to integrate and enhance
TCM's business-critical IT applications, across its diverse
automotive operations, encompassing not only vehicle sales,
but also service, insurance as well as hire purchase activities.
The application will affect and involve more than 1,500 Tan
Chong employees and dealers across the nation.
The project will be carried out a joint development basis,
in which TCM Information Systems Department will partner with
Cyber Village to execute the project system development and
implementation. TCM and Cyber Village will implement the project
on a phased implementation basis.
